Yang Yong

International Passage – Hong Kong Belongs to You

Yang Yong tries as a mediator in seeking the views held by young people towards the city, and their value judgments on living space. Do young people have a sense of belonging towards the city? And, gazing at the world from Hong Kong, do they see how they belong?

Artist Biography

Yang Yong was graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1995 and is living and working in Shenzhen and Beijing.Since 1998, Yang’s works have taken part in over 120 international and domestic art exhibitions including joint and solo exhibitions. They have been featured at the “50th La Biennale di Venezia” in 2003 in Italy, “4th Gwangju Biennale” in 2002 in South Korea, and the “Exhibition at the 34th Les Rencontres d'Arles International Photography Festival” in 2003 in France. His works have been exhibited in dozens of important international art museums, and since 2001 has participated in the Ministry of Culture’s contemporary art exhibitions held in Germany, France, Holland, Mexico, Czechoslovakia, etc. during the “Year of Chinese Culture” events. In 2010 he joined the art organizing work for the Shenzhen Pavilion at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai. His works have been collected by art institutions including Montblanc (Germany), the Victoria and Albert Museum (United Kingdom), Haudenschild (United States), International Center of Photography (United States), Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (China), Guangdong Museum of Art (China), Ravenel Art Group’s Auction (Taiwan) and other important art galleries and international and domestic private collections.
