Boundary

“Boundary – is territory”, as noted in the 2nd century dictionary Shuowen Jiezi. The artwork combines the style of traditional screen and the protection structure of construction area, to emphasize the thinking of “Boundary”. By using the ashes from Tin Hau Temple, which represents a culture and religion pass from generation to generation; and use it to paint on the “cocoon” which wraps up the future of urban civilisation. It is surely worthy of further contemplation.

Artist Biography

SUN Bo
Born in 1983 in Harbin of Heilongjiang Province, Sun Bo graduated from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, further studied in Japan at the Tokyo University of the Arts, and is now teaching at the Department of Urban Design at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.Sun’s works have taken part in exhibitions including “Harmonious Differences – Second Experimental Art Exhibition”, “Exhibition and Symposium of Oriental Colours”, “The 5th VentoSul Biennial ”, “China Central Academy of Fine Arts 60 Years of Drawing”, “—JING—DRAWING Exhibition”, “Super Food Exhibition, Beijing”.

MA Jiawei
Born in 1982 in Baoding of Hebei Province, Ma Jiawei is currently a doctoral candidate at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.Ma held a solo exhibition of her works “On the Scene” in Beijing in 2008. She has also taken part in exhibitions including “The Big World: Recent Art from China”, “Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York”, “The 5th VentoSul Biennial”, “China: Construction/Deconstruction--Chinese Contemporary Art”, “The 5th Chengdu Biennial”, “The Contemporary China in the Artists’ Eyes”, and “Oil Painting Art and Contemporary Society”. Her works have been collected by art institutions including the Art Museum at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Chengdu Museum of Modern Art, and the White Rabbit Gallery in NSW, Australia.
